The Guest House
An overview
The Moving Image Guest House has been built as a romantic hideaway catering for couples in love, anniversaries, weddings and the honeymoon couple. The Guest House is owned and hosted by Freddie (from Austria) and Sandie (from England). A separate house has been built for the hosts.'Moving Image' has an interesting structural integrity to the landscape. Our objective for the 'moving image' is to share this amazing unique location and the buildings we have lovingly created over many years, with our guests. We would like to project an image of 'country comfort' from a bygone time, a warm, friendly and intimate stopover where privacy is assured for romantic couples.
This is a tranquil holiday destination, our little slice of heaven on earth.
You will experience quietness that can only be found in highland country, where the only sounds heard at night are the resident frogs on the dam. Yes, we have a marvellous rural setting!
This is a superb place to 'come home to' after a day travelling, where you can unwind while you watch the changing face and character of Mount Roland in differing weather conditions (be mesmerized by the view being so close), and enjoy some delicious local wine and produce.
The Guest House
By staying at Moving Image Guest House you will be experiencing the taste of a gentler life. Turn the key of time and step back into a style of building from the old English tradition in Tasmania, built new for your comfort.
Appreciate 9 foot gracious ceilings with ornate plaster and rose cornices, delicate ceiling roses with period lighting (can be dimmed for that 'romantic' feel!), a 120 year old antique mantelpiece over the wood heater, beautiful leadlight doors and windows featuring Tasmanian flora and fauna, and take in the feel of a time long forgotten. Photo opportunites are many!
The Guest House has a very unique and interesting character with many collectables, paintings and wall hangings on display, while the outback country feel lounge and dining facilities make for a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.
Guests enjoying breakfast look out into the courtyard where you may see many of our native birds visiting the garden.
A Brick Conservatory in our sunken Courtyard Garden provides a bridge between House and Garden, creating another dimension where plants and people can happily co-exist regardless of weather conditions, while enjoying music or simply taking time to contemplate the next day's adventures.
Guests have the choice of alfresco dining and BBQ facilities in the courtyard during the summer months from 6.30pm to 8.00pm on request at extra cost. A complimentary bottle of wine is provided with your meal.
During the winter months in-house dining from 6.00 to 7.00pm is also available at extra cost.
